Jesus Christ is the keystone of the Christian faith that has spread worldwide and boasts of millions of followers, especially in the western world.  And yet there is a great unexplained mystery surrounding the very issue of his existence!

Jesus Christ is looked upon by millions of Christian devotees as the embodiment of divine innocence, as the living Son of God who lisped God’s own words through his mouth and embarked on a self sacrificing mission to heal the world through altruistic love. And yet there are innumerable bands of skeptics and critics who are out to prove that no one by the name of Jesus ever graced the soils of the terra firma.

And this debate or mystery just continues to grow day by day.  Many Christian disciples do still wonder as to whether there is any scientific proof or archaeological confirmation or historical evidence of Jesus’ existence. Did the Son of the God really live? Did he really manage to attain manhood in Nazareth, an obscure Judean village?

Was Jesus really the “living” son of God? Or is he purely a figment of someone’s over fertile religiously inclined imagination – a myth that his billions of blind followers strived to sustain for over 2000 years? Were the good news messages of selfless love really preached by Jesus, as the Bible states?

Quite a good number of Spiritualists, religious clerics and scholars, theologians, scientists, archaeologists and historians do actually believe that Jesus did indeed walk the earth and was crucified, but the numbers of detractors and skeptics are just as many and the recent discoveries have thrown up surprising conclusions. In the wake of 20^th and 21^st century discoveries, the evidence for his life will seem really surprising to all.

To answer the other question put forward by cynics and agnostics, let me just say that there are two strange aspects which separate ordinary lesser mortals who ever inhabited the earth from Jesus, who willingly gave up his life at the cross to atone for the sins of human beings.

In spite of being tempted by the 7 deadly sins, this spotless Lamb of God was the only sinless creature to grace the face of earth ever and who also delivered people from their sins and saved them from eternal damnation. And he went through unimaginable spiritual suffering on the cross when he “became sin” for mortals.
