Hair Loss: How to Arrest Hair Fall and Restore Your Thinning Tresses to their Former Glory?

One of the most common beauty problems suffered by billions of men and women, teenagers and middle aged individuals, to say nothing of older citizens, is hair loss. It is perhaps the no # 1 appearance related problem bugging generations of people all across the globe. Although hair is nothing but an aggregation of dead cells, it supposed to be a person’s crowning glory.

In many cultures, in fact, I should say in almost all cultures, a woman’s physical beauty is often measured by the thickness and length of her cascading lustrous locks. A case in point might be the myths and folklore surrounding beautiful damsels with enviously long locks such as dear old Rapunzel!

Not only women, even men are scared of losing their hair. Thinning hair or a fast receding hairline and a balding pate are looked upon as serious concerns. Almost every single bald man in this world feels ashamed of his shining pate. Women of marriageable age nurture deep reservations about marrying a balding guy, even today.

And the worst part is that medical research hasn’t yet been able to come up with an effective cure for hair loss or thinning hair. However, nature and Ayurveda have quite a few solutions for treating hair loss and arresting thinning hair or hair fall and I am going to discuss those hair fall prevention steps in this article.

Ways to Stop Hair Loss through Ayurveda

  • More often than not, hair fall is the symptom or external manifestation of a problem deep inside your body. If you can rectify that inner problem, it might arrest your hair fall and receding hairline.
  • Often, an imbalance in the doshas, especially a deficient Pitta dosha might be the factor aggravating hair loss.
  • The best way to arrest hair fall, thinning hair and a balding pate is to switch to a healthy Ayurvedic diet that will balance all your doshas and to increase the intake of food items which will minimize your Pitta dosha.
  • Along with this, you can drink one third of a cup of pure aloe vera juice every single day that will serve to minimize your Pitta dosha and reduce hair loss.
  • Scientists have also found out that a daily dosage of the minerals magnesium and calcium can help fight hair fall by strengthening the hair follicles.
  • Therefore, you might consider eating small amounts of white sesame seeds every day as the substance is rich in magnesium and calcium. This measure might arrest your receding hairline to some degree.

Natural Ways to Prevent Hair Loss

  • Ancient Ayurvedic practices always harped on the importance of a deep, invigorating and relaxing oil massage to improve blood circulation, which in turn led to healthy, lustrous, dense locks.
  • You can mix together equal quantities of pure coconut oil, pure almond oil and pure castor oil and heat the mixture. Now gently massage this hot oil mixture into your scalp and at the roots of your hair, at least twice a week.
  • Leave on overnight or at least for 2 to 3 hours before shampooing off with a 100% organic cleanser. Castor oil is supposed to promote hair growth and the mixture of the 3 oils increases the potency of the oil.
  • Another good traditional oil massage that yields rich dividends is a Luke warm mixture of Maha Bhringaraj and brahmi oils. Massage this oil mixture daily into your scalp for at least 5 minutes.
  • You can break a vitamin E capsule and apply the jelly like liquid at the roots of your hair. Alternately, you can massage your scalp with pure vitamin E oil.
  • You may even boil a red hibiscus flower in pure coconut oil and massage the hot mixture into your scalp to arrest hair fall.

Doing regular exercise, maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet, keeping your hair short and manageable and abstaining from torturing your hair through chemical treatments (perming, straightening, ironing and bleaching, coloring, blow drying) can significantly help to prevent hair loss and arrest hair fall.
